Commission launches tool to Aid SMEs in digital transformation

The European Commission has unveiled a new Digital Maturity Assessment tool designed to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in evaluating and enhancing their digital capabilities. This initiative aims to identify the digital strengths and weaknesses of businesses, facilitating their journey towards comprehensive digital transformation.

Accessible to all companies, the tool is freely available in 32 languages, ensuring broad usability across Europe. It enables businesses to assess their digital maturity based on six critical criteria: digital business strategy, digital readiness, digital skills improvement, data management, automation and intelligence, and green digitalisation. By providing detailed insights, the tool helps SMEs develop effective digital growth plans and receive bespoke advice from their local EDIH.
The EDIH network, comprising 228 hubs, plays a pivotal role in enhancing the digital capabilities of companies and public sector organisations. This extensive network is set to drive digital innovation and growth across Europe.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to achieve the European Commission’s Digital Decade targets, which include a 75% uptake of AI, cloud computing, and big data by European companies. Together with the newly established AI Office, the EDIH network will serve as a comprehensive resource for SMEs and public services seeking digital transformation and AI solutions.
