European Commission calls offer opportunity to invest in digital and technological capacity

As part of the Digital Europe Programme 2023-2024, the European Commission has launched a new set of calls to strengthen the EU’s digital capacity. These calls are open to companies and public administrations from across the EU and EEA, with a total of €176 million.

This funding will be used for a range of investments. €74 million will support the creation of data spaces to make more data accessible and re-usable. In addition, €67.5 million will be allocated to the development of artificial intelligence to underpin large European language models and generative artificial intelligence. This action will ensure greater autonomy in the use and sharing of European data.

The calls will also cover digital education and skills development for older people, with funding for a digital skills platform. This platform will help adults to acquire basic digital skills. Support will also be given to a project on ” girls and women in digital”, which will aim to achieve gender convergence in the technology (ICT) sector. €1 million will also be earmarked for a project on further cooperation in the roll-out of cross-border digital public services.

The deadline for all calls is 29.5.2024.
